Install an add-on
Five minutes from the ZIP to a working add-on, whichever method you prefer.
1. Download your ZIP
Open your account, go to the product page and hit Download. You get one archive containing the add-on and its README.
2. Install it
Two methods. The first is easier and works on most hosts.
From the Admin CP, recommended
- Admin CP, Add-ons, Install/upgrade from archive
- Pick the ZIP you just downloaded
- Confirm
XenForo unpacks the files, runs the installation steps and enables the add-on. Nothing else to do.
By FTP, if your host blocks archive installs
- Unzip the archive on your computer
- Upload the contents of
upload/over your forum root, keeping the folder structure - Admin CP, Add-ons, find the add-on in the list and hit Install
3. Configure it
Every add-on adds its own section under Admin CP, Options, and most add a tab of their own. The start here thread in the add-on's forum lists what is worth looking at first, in order.
Permissions matter more than options. If a feature seems missing for your members, check Admin CP, Groups and permissions before assuming it is broken.
If something looks off
- Run Admin CP, Tools, File health check. It tells you whether a file arrived damaged.
- Check the requirements. XenForo 2.3 and PHP 8.1 or later.
