Most members never start a conversation with a stranger. They will wave, though. XenPing turns hello into a single tap: no message to write, no reply expected, no thread to start. The other member gets a friendly alert, waves back from their inbox, and two people who would never have talked have now met.
What it does
- Five gestures. Wave, Cheers, Coffee, High five and Thanks, each with its own alert and emoji. The wave is always there; you choose which of the other four your members get.
- Wave from anywhere. From a profile, from the member tooltip, and if you like from the author block of every message. The gesture menu only loads when someone opens it, so long threads stay as fast as before.
- Your waves inbox. Everything you received and sent, with a one-click Wave back that answers with the same gesture.
- Most waved. Leaderboards for the last 7 days, the last 30 days and all time, with a podium, infinite scroll and your own counts, plus a Most waved widget for any position.
- Friendly, never spammy. A daily limit per user group (unlimited if you want), a cooldown per person, flood protection, a Wave at you privacy setting, and ignored members cannot wave at you.
- Brings people back. An optional email tells an inactive member someone waved, at most once in a while.
- For admins. A wave log with filters and statistics, a counters rebuild, alert preferences, a REST API, Spanish translations, and clean handling of deleted and merged members.
New in 2.0.1
The leaderboard and inbox tabs stay visible on styles that hide XenForo's standalone tabs, and badges other add-ons show after member names (streaks, levels) keep their own size instead of stretching across the row.
Added in 2.0.0
XenPing 2.0 is rebuilt on XenForo's own components and follows your style in light and dark. New: four more gestures, the Your waves inbox with wave back, leaderboards by period, the Most waved widget, the optional button in the message author block, the Wave at you privacy setting, per-group daily limits, the Admin CP wave log, the REST API and Spanish translations. Counts are stored per member, which keeps profiles and leaderboards fast on large forums. Every 1.x feature is still there.
Good to know
Requires XenForo 2.3 and PHP 8.0 or later. Free.
Upgrading from 1.x: install the archive over your current version from the Admin CP. Every wave is kept and the counts are rebuilt automatically.
