Question Very laggy performance on mobile

So after the last forum style change (here on this forum), the forum has been very laggy when browsing on mobile (firefox browser). Before the last style update, it worked well without any hickup. So it's basically un-usable. It's the same on Samsung web browser on mobile, so browser issue less likely.

Too fancy style for mobile, causing it to lag? Does it work well on yours?

Thanks for the heads-up, and you were completely right - sorry about that.

The new style shipped with far too many decorative animations running in a loop: 85 active on the forum home alone, most of them infinite. Desktop GPUs shrugged it off, but on mobile it dragged the frame rate down to ~20 FPS with regular main-thread stalls. That is exactly the lag you felt.

Fixed : on mobile every looping decoration is now switched off entirely (the animated backdrop is simply gone there), and on desktop the ornaments only animate when you hover them. Measured on a throttled mobile profile, the forum home went from 21 FPS to 55-60 FPS with zero stalls, and thread pages hold a flat 60.

Give it a hard refresh (or let the cache roll over) and it should feel like the old forum again - snappier, even. If you still feel any hiccup on your Samsung, tell me exactly which page and I will chase it.
