On a phone
- Your own camera shows from the first ring, with the person you are calling on top. Their camera only turns on once they answer.
- An incoming call takes the whole screen: Accept, Accept with audio only, or Decline.
- In a call, the other person fills the screen and you sit in a small window you can drag to any corner or tap to swap. Flip to the back camera, switch a voice call to video and back, and keep typing in the thread while the call stays in a bubble.
- The camera comes back after you return from another app, and a switch from Wi-Fi to 4G reconnects the same call.
On desktop
- The call opens in a window you can move and resize, go full screen, or pop out in picture in picture while you browse another tab.
- A device panel switches microphone, camera and speaker during the call, and keyboard shortcuts cover mute, camera, screen sharing and full screen.
Calls that connect between mobile networks
Two phones on mobile data usually need a relay. Pick Cloudflare Realtime TURN or Metered in Messenger > Calls, paste one key, and the add-on generates short-lived relay credentials for every call.
