Bug:
- Drag list to re-order the steps do not work.

A few suggestions for trigger criterion:

  • Starting a thread/posting in a specific forum. (important to guide them to your most vital content focused forums).
  • Visit the GameHub (only visible if installed GameHub). PS: Adding games, reviewing etc, is part of the GB achievements, I think just visiting to check it out, should be sufficient as part of the initial "journey".

Also - when are the steps completed? I see no Cron for that. I added some steps that should be all completed on my account.

Frode, the three of them are in Journey 1.3.1, which went live on the store today.

The bug: dragging steps to reorder them
Fixed. The step list declared the drag behaviour and loaded its stylesheet, but never loaded the two scripts that actually make it work, so the sorter was never registered. XenForo drops an unknown handler without a word, which is why the page reported nothing at all while doing nothing at all. The new order is now sent once, when you drop the row, instead of on every pixel of the drag.

Your two criteria
  • Start a thread in a specific forum is in, and so is Reply in a specific forum, since your reasoning applies to both. You pick the forum, and only posts there count. Exactly your point: a journey should push newcomers towards the sections that carry your board, not reward any post anywhere.
  • Visit a specific page is in, and it covers the GameHub case without being tied to GameHub. The criterion offers a list of everything installed on your board, so a game hub appears there if you run one, and so do the resource manager, the media gallery, the member list, or any page a third-party add-on registers. I would rather ship one criterion that works for every add-on than one that only knows about mine. And I agree with your instinct that simply going and looking should be enough for the first journey; earning things inside the hub is the hub's job.

Your question, which turned out to be the real find
You asked when steps complete, said you saw no cron, and noted that steps which should already be complete on your own account were not. You were not missing a setting. That was a genuine defect, and the most valuable thing in your report.

Every criterion was only ever evaluated when something changed: a new post, an avatar going from none to some. Nothing ever looked at the state a member was already in. So a member who already had an avatar, a filled profile or a thousand posts before you created the step could never complete it, and nothing in the add-on would ever catch up. On an established board that means the journey is broken for exactly the people who have been with you longest.

In 1.3.1, progress is measured against the member's current state the first time a step reaches them, so an established member sees a truthful checklist straight away. A Recalculate progress button on the step list runs that same pass over your whole member base in the background, which is what you were looking for.

One deliberate restriction: that catch-up does not hand out the rewards unless you switch on Grant rewards when catching up on existing members. On a board with history, granting them would fire one currency transaction and one alert per member per step in a single pass, and you would find out about it from your members. Steps based on visiting a page or reading a thread cannot be caught up either, because the forum keeps no reliable history of those, and the confirmation screen names the steps it will skip rather than pretending.

Thank you for this one. The bug and the criteria were useful, but the question was worth more than both.

Thank you for the great explanations and additions! I really enjoy reading your thoughts around the changes/fixes etc, and I think I speak on behalf on most of your customers when I say that your attention to detail, service quality and listening to your audience, is really at the top of the league in terms of XF developers!
